If you cant melt your credit card in LA, then you aint shopping properly!
Los Angeles can be a real death trap for those that hate shopping - being dragged along by your significant other, through endless stores full of the latest fashion at drop dead cheap prices... but if you love shopping then you have hit the motherload.
There are a variety of shopping presincts in LA, all of which offer something different and unique...
Melrose Avenue
This is THE mecca for fashion conscious bargain shoppers... the whol;e street is full of great stores, with the trendiest gear, at sometimes inflated, and mostly great prices... from T-shirts, to those funky suit jackets with the embroidery - you know your going to find something hot here. One end of the street features hiugh end brands and major labels, but if you head a few blocks down to where Johnny Rockets (a burger joint) is located, you will find Urban Outfitters - one of my favourite stores, but unlike other stores, you can go into different outlets of this chain and get different things - so make sure you rummage!
Melrose Aveune is the place to star spot as well, with many sightings daily, you may even bump into Jay Leno, who records his street segemnts there almost weekly!
Annaheim & Orange County
Ok, its primarily known for Disneyland, but if you get out of the park for a few hours, get the free shuttle bus to Annaheim Marketplace... its dingy and a bit seedy, but the bargains are worth it - every knock off under the sun, plus the cheapest luggage you will find in America! (I got a $300 value suitcase for only $30!) this place is THE place to haggle and pick up some bargain perfumes and jewelry. Grab a snapsot of yourselves having a blast in the delapodated photobooth too - its a hoot!
The other place that is a must do is THE BLOCK at ORANGE... its THE teen/OC style shopping mall, with skate park and all included, but for the bargain shopper you have university clothing stores (great for the cheap ass jock in all of us) plus all the high end brands! The hot dog shop in the centre food court too is awesome!
Beverly Jills / Rodeo Drive
If you only go there to piss off the clerks by doing your worst Julia Roberts impersination (and yes, the Regent Beverly Willshire is just across the street) you wll have a ball going up and down window shopping and purchasing from these amasing stores... for the high flyers, you can try your hand at getting a real Luis Vitton Bag from of course, Luis Vitton, and there are all the must have brands from Cartier to Versace! Make sure you visit Via Rodeo, the little street that has all its elements fully imported from Italy - its just fantastic, and if you can beat yourself past fellow tourists, then grab a shot next to Tiffany's fountain!
Paralell with Rodeo Drive is Beverly Drive , the actual main shoppnig precint of Beverly Hills - here you can find Starbucks, cafes and the hottest shops to get your own piece of Beverly Hills without the price tag! We are talking high class originals polo shirts for only $30 people! now thats good shopping!
