International film icon and song and dance superstar, Hugh Jackman is wowing audiences on Broadway with many journalists bringing up the old chestnut that someone like Hugh must be a raving homo to carry of that type of performance.
Let's break that down for a second.
One, Hugh is an actor, and a brilliant one.
Two, he is a father and husband to the gorgeous Deborah.
Three, he knows on which side his bread is buttered. He knows that appealing to both sexes, his audience increases exponentially, and a very smart move. There is no denying that Gay men will love Hugh, no matter what, and so will the ladies. Chances are, none of us gays would EVER stand a chance with him, so why bother to bring up the gay rumours? If there was any truth to the fact, who cares? The solid appeal of Hugh is not the fact he can easily give a lap dance to either Matt Damon or Barbra Walters (true story) but that his insane charm and skill as a performer is what draws most folks to liking him in the first place.
I for one, say WHO CARES what his sexuality is. Thats between he and his partner. And boy - she must be one happy camper. Speaking to the New York Times Deborah said "The line I heard was, 'Wolverine? Who would have thought?' Hugh and I don't pay much heed [to that]," she said. "It's kind of tragic that these people have nothing better to do than to gossip about people they don't know."
Talking about camp, Hugh's Broadway show IS gayer than Christmas. From the jaunty showtunes, to the cross gender lap dancing, its glitter and showman all the way. It is a shining performance and one that ALL crowds are going nuts for - so do yourself a favour - if your in the Broadway area before the end of January, make sure you try and grab a ticket.
