Its the final week of the Sydney Star Observer Newspaper, and its southern counterpart, the Southern Star Observer, with both titles being made redundant to relaunch as a new national title just simply called "Star Observer".
The Star Observer group is launching an edition of its gay and lesbian focussed publication into the Brisbane market making the printed title available along the east coast.
The company also prints weekly LGBTIQ community newspapers Sydney Star Observer, Melbourne-based Southern Star Observer weekly, which will both be expanded and renamed with the Star Observer group name.
“As part of our east coast expansion, we will be launching a new single 64-page product this Friday for distribution in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland,” Gay & Lesbian Community Publishing Limited chairman Daniel Bone said to marketing publication B&T.
“The new larger publication, simply titled Star Observer, hitting the streets on a new publication day, replaces existing papers Sydney Star Observer and Southern Star Observer..."
This is a major step for the title, who has undergone major changes recently, including dropping regular columnists.
Star Observer will be available in outlets - yet to be advised, in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
We wish our good friends over at the new "Star Observer" all the best with this venture.
